The Probable Modulation of Energetic Particles to Seismic Activity

  • Taking the earth as an opened system, the relationship between the seism happened in different regions on the earth and solar activity is studied in this paper. A periodicity of about 11-year is found for the seism activity in the different regions, the periodicity maybe in relation to that of solar activity. But the cycle in seism activity is in negative relationship with that in solar activity, the peak of the former lies in the descent phase of the latter. We analysed emphatically that the relationship among the seismic activity, the high speed particles from solar wind and the energetic particles of cosmic rays. It is found that there is a positive relationship with a high reliability among them. Therefore, it allows us to infer that the seismic activity is modulated by the solar activity under the action of energentic particles come from the sun to the earth.
