Influence of Rotation on the Stellar Parameters

  • Rotation, as a foundational stellar parameter, influences other stellar physics quantities. The main effects of rotation are reviewed in present paper. The size of a star is increased and the shape is deviated from the sphere by the rotation of the star. The rotation lowers the surface temperature and gravitational acceleration of the star. Many observable parameters, including luminosity, magnitude, color index, Stokes parameters, abundance of elements, line profile and its equivalent width, are effected or distorted by the stellar rotation. The observation values are averaged over the visible hemisphere, depending upon the inclination angle. The rotation also influences the pressure, the temperature and the;density at the center of the star.
