Models and Statistical Characteristics of the Noise in Images

The statistical characteristics of the noise in images are reviewed comprehensively in this paper.The models and statistical characteristics of the realistic signal-dependent noise especially the film grain noise and photoelectronic shot noise,are emphatically discussed.It is pointed out that the noise from the tape record is one of the signaldependent noises.Based on the model of the noise in the Naderi and Sawchuk image,a fuzzy and egenerate model of the film,digitization image is proposed to counter the image digitization of the CCD camera.
